The final month of 2020 is here, and I hope, probably like many of you, that 2021 brings an end to the pandemic and a return to normalcy. There are many things that I am thankful for today.
I am grateful for this community and how well we have done as a school community through these first four months in school. Students and staff adjusted to new regulations, procedures, and protocols without skipping a beat. The general feeling in the school was upbeat, appreciative of being back together and learning.
I am thankful that I work in a division that places students at the center of all their decisions. I am grateful for your diligence in keeping your student(s) home when they have been sick and reporting COVID exposures to me. Your efforts have made it possible to provide a safe environment for our faculty, staff and families who have chosen face-to-face learning.
I am thankful that we are smarter this time around and are ready for the in-school end of term exams for the following two weeks leading up to winter holiday break. I am thankful that we successfully had two days of face to face learning and are all set to conduct their end of the first term exams. Schedules were made and sent out with each grade 7-12 student.
Secondary school students are auditioning for SRIS Talent Show, 2020, The show offers our students a platform to share their creativity, skills and talents with you, our community. Hard work, dedication, teamwork and resilience are necessary to create a successful show and participants all do their part to ensure a successful event. I am really looking forward to a spectacular and entertaining recorded program.
Elementary students will be in the building and continuing their in-class learning. They will continue to follow the NORMAL school schedule during the exams as well – no timetable modifications were made for their learning.
Elementary teachers and students are working to put together a winter concert that will be recorded and then shared with you once completed.
The little one, grade 1 and kindergartners are putting together an in-school performance, Literacy Night.
Also, the teachers are trying to do some fun activities during December.
I am so thankful for my staff, who continue to work hard each and every day for your children. I would not be able to do it without them.
