Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have successfully completed our first few weeks of school at SRIS! Students returned happy to see familiar faces and excited to meet new friends and new teachers. Welcome to all of our new families! Please schedule an appointment with your child’s coordinator or teacher if you have questions or concerns about school life.
Students, faculty and staff have all done a wonderful job of implementing the health and hygiene practices that are in place. Newly installed hand washing stations, automated hand sanitizer dispensers, masks, social distancing and daily temperature checks keep the school community healthy and safe, and serve as an extra layer of comfort and peace of mind.
At SRIS we regularly practice safety and security drills. We will conduct our first fire drill of the school year in the second week of October. All our primary school homeroom teachers will go through First Aid Training on the 18th and 25th of September. The purpose of these exercises is to ensure everyone’s safety in the event that a real life situation arises.
Over the next few days I am going to introduce five new initiatives here at Silk Road International School.
- A Novel Eco-Initiative by SRIS
- University Preparation/ Guidance Counseling
- Internship Application Support
- IGCSE Preparation Courses
- Intensive Interventions for Students Struggling in Reading, Writing and Mathematics
Developing skills beyond the classroom
Academic study provides the tools for students not only to further their education at university, but an education for life requires far more than just book work. Whether in the Art Department, on the stage or concert hall, or on the playing field, our very talented senior students happily balance a heavy academic load with a range of You Time activities. The stimulus that these activities provide prepares students for the wider world and for university.
Silk Road International School works with families to ensure that students have high academic expectations, achieve success in public examinations, and discover interests that will stay with them for life. We continue to be proud to teach our students to learn, to think independently, to challenge and to discuss, rather than be treated as empty vessels to be filled with facts. Our academic success speaks for itself!
