Facts about the Silk Road International School in Bishkek

A Cambridge International School

History

Silk Road International School was established in 1999. The project started 1996 when a cooperative educational agreement supporting the educational endeavor with the Ministry of Education and Culture was signed. In the fall of 1999, the school opened its doors to students.

Our philosophy

The aim of the school is to develop in students the highest standard in all aspects of life – intellectual, cultural, athletic and behavioral.

The vision of Silk Road International School is to be nationally recognized and acknowledged based on the high performance and achievements of its students.
The mission of Silk Road is using modern and contemporary education, research-development-production techniques and methods, by taking steps on behalf of supplying access to information, human, scientific, technologic, economic, social and cultural need by taking steps on behalf of, at peace with itself, aims to educate individuals of international society and develop relationships based on tolerance and dialogue.

SRIS works with these organizations

Primary moves to high school building

Primary classes were moved to the high school building, where the heating was working without any issues. For our primary students that posed a great adventure. They were excited about the change. Especially they enjoyed that they are now taught in the rooms of the “large kids”.

Volunteering with Babushka Adoption

A group of SRIS students and teachers volunteered at Babushka Adoption and organized a small collection of funds to buy groceries for 5 babushkas that live nearby Silk Road International School.

SRIS reopens after break

SRIS explores scenarios to bring back all grades after the mid-term break, while upholding all safety protocols. Grade 7 to 11 will have at least one day in school starting 9th of November 2020.

Midterm break approaches

Midterm break: The school will observe a midterm break. Which will commence on Monday 2nd November 2020, and end on Friday 6th November 2020. Classes will resume on Monday 9th November 2020.

Online psychological seminars

SRIS is launching a series of online psychological seminars for parents aiming to help adapt to the realities of today’s world.

Learning Traffic Rules

Our Austrian homeroom teacher Mr Philipp developed a concept that is playful and fun, to teach our students the correct behaviour in the school cooridor during COVID rules and an understanding of traffic rules at the same time.

SRIS teaches Travel & Tourism.

Tourism and Travel offers great opportunities for career and is guaranteed to keep your job interesting and challenging. In tourism you work closely with people and need a high service orientation. Meeting many interesting people and giving them a great holiday experience can be very rewarding.

SRIS uses Memsource CAT

SRIS is using Memsource in upper high school’s Russian and Kyrgyz courses next school year together with our Cambridge Course Media Studies. We started training our language team in the use of CAT and are using it to maintain this website in three languages.
