Job Description

As a German teacher at SRIS you’ll primarily teach 8th, 9th and 10th graders. Our students start out as beginners in 8th or 9th grade and need to develop A2 German skills with elements of B1 by the end of 10th grade, with 4-5 lessons per week.

The German teacher complements our language team and helps us create and implement captivating lessons and engaging teaching plans. The corresponding Cambridge syllabus, past exam papers and books are of course provided.

At «SRIS» we use English as main teaching language, teach Kyrgyz and Russian as first and second language and offer German as a second language with a Cambridge IGCSE diploma.

Qualification requirements

Language teaching diploma.

This position requires certified education as a language teacher in German (preferred) or in another language. The applicant needs to show the knowledge of contemporary language teaching techniques and have the corresponding language skills.

One year or more of teaching experience.

The applicant can show at least one year of experience teaching German or another language at school, a language school or at an university.

Language Requirement: German (B2+), English (A2+)

This position requires the applicant to have these CEFR language proficiency levels:

German: At least a very solid B2 with elements of C1, better full C1 Level (Proficient user > Effective operational proficiency or advanced)
English: At least A2; better B1 (Independent user > Threshold or intermediate)
- Reason: As an international school in Bishkek our school’s work and teaching language is English.

Cooperate with the whole language department to update our language curriculum to the very latest and research proven teaching techniques.

Start and Duration

This teaching position is starting on 9th of August 2021 with a two week teacher induction training. Silk Road International School start the academic year on 21st of August 2021.

This position is a full-time position with a one year contract, which will be prolonged for another year with mutual consent.
